Economy takes place locally and is simultaneously integrated into global contexts! The successful development of economic areas requires experts who can combine economic expertise with geographical analysis and planning skills. With our Bachelor's degree in Applied Economic Geography, you will learn how regional structures and international economic trends are connected and develop practical solutions - from urban development, commercial space management and marketing and business development to international location management and the design of sustainable supply chains.

Study structure
The Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Economic Geography prepares you optimally for a career in national or international companies, public or civil society institutions. Close cooperation with companies allows you to apply your knowledge directly in practice.
You will acquire specialised economic geography and business management knowledge as well as key qualifications in the areas of methodological, social and learning skills.
You will acquire in-depth knowledge of economic geography in its broadest sense as well as solid business and management-oriented basic knowledge. Building on your basic knowledge of business administration and economic geography, you will acquire practice-relevant specialised knowledgethrough the elective modules from the third semester onwards

After the first third of the degree programme, you can choose from an extensive range of electivemodulesin Economic Geography and Business Administration. There are no fixed specialisations in order to give you more choice as to where you would like to focus. Many elective modules look at interdisciplinary topics with other degree programmes, e.g. real estate management, tourism management or business psychology. All elective modules offered in Economic Geography are relevant to spatial economics and deepen your specialised knowledge, e.g. in areas such as urban development, destination management or mobility. You can also set your own focus in the area of business administration, for example by choosing modules from the business performance system, e.g. logistics or supply chain management, or the management system, such as controlling, human resources or intercultural management.
Internship
For your 20-week internship semester in the 4th semester, you are free to choose in which area, at which company or institution and where (in Germany or abroad) you would like to complete it.
Examples of possible areas, companies and institutions: Location planning, logistics and supply chain management, neighbourhood management, geomarketing, economic development, urban and regional development and -marketingas well as suitable specialist departments in national and international companies.
Part-time variant
The part-time study programme is an alternative for all those who want to study alongside their job, despite impairments or alongside caring responsibilities, such as looking after children or caring for family members.
All the facts about the part-time option at a glance:
1. The part-time variant includes the same modules and elective options as the full-time variant of WiGeo (with the same lecture times, there is no timetable created especially for the part-time variant).
2. Only the number of ECTS credits to be achieved per semester is reduced, thus extending the standard duration of study to 10 semesters.
3. This form of study enables students to complete a degree within the standard period of study if full-time study cannot be completed.
