This is what life is like in our beautiful region on the North Sea coast.
“Heide in the district of Dithmarschen” or, as we say: you are studying in one of the most beautiful places in Germany. Here, on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, you are right in the middle of it all. Whether it's the North Sea in St. Peter-Ording or Büsum, the Baltic Sea beaches, kite surfing, swimming, beach walks or surfing – the sea is never far away. Want a little more excitement? Hamburg, Flensburg, and Kiel are less than an hour away by car or train. And Denmark is also not far away for a weekend trip.
The district town of Heide itself is lively and charming. It offers everything you need for daily life, including student housing, which is quite affordable compared to larger university towns. In addition to various shopping opportunities, Heide has restaurants, nice cafés, and pubs, and throughout the year there are various events on Germany's largest market square: concerts, theater performances, fairs, flea markets, the market beach with beach volleyball and beach soccer tournaments, a Christmas market and winter world, a large medieval festival every two years, and much more.
With the establishment of the sustainable battery factory and many other companies in the renewable energy sector, Dithmarschen is one of Europe's centers for the energy transition. Anyone who can imagine working in this field after completing their studies has come to the right place. The region is booming and will continue to develop rapidly in the coming years.
