Specialisations
From the 3rd semester onwards, you can personalise your studies. Here you have the opportunity to specialise in a particular field of study.
- AI & Embedded
- AI & Economy
- AI & Data Science
The specialisation "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Embedded Systems" deals with the use of AI in a variety of devices and systems that have microcontrollers, sensors and controllers. AI is not just limited to offices or large data centres, but is increasingly being used in machines, vehicles, production facilities and many other computer-controlled systems. In order to successfully integrate these technologies, AI algorithms must be perfectly matched to the underlying hardware and control systems. In this specialisation, you will not only acquire in-depth knowledge of AI, but also comprehensive knowledge of embedded systems, electronics and sensor technology. This unique combination of skills will enable you to introduce and optimise artificial intelligence in sectors such as industry, transport, energy supply and agriculture. You will learn how to efficiently integrate AI solutions into hardware-based systems to develop intelligent, autonomous devices and systems.
The specialisation "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business" combines the application of AI with business management processes. AI methods offer considerable potential for management, customer service and many other business processes. The key to their successful application lies in well-structured and analysed company data, which is why data science modules are also part of this specialisation. You will learn how AI technologies can support management decisions through data-driven insights and intelligent systems. In the specialisation, you will deal with practical applications such as the functioning of chatbots and the targeted integration of AI solutions into company processes. The aim is to understand the use of AI in business and to develop concrete, efficient solutions that can increase the competitive advantage of companies.
Data is a crucial asset for many companies and organisations. In this specialisation, you will learn how to tap into this value effectively. The fields of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) are closely linked and many algorithms are used in both areas. In the "AI and Data Science" specialisation, the focus is on methods for organising, analysing and using data. Statistical methods play a role here, but in particular the techniques of machine learning, one of the most exciting fields of artificial intelligence, take centre stage. The specialisation provides a sound education in machine learning, data analysis and modelling as well as the development and implementation of intelligent systems. Students acquire both the theoretical foundations and practice-oriented knowledge of AI algorithms and data-based technologies that are used in numerous industries.
Internship
As a computer scientist, it is important to prepare yourself for a technical working environment. With us, you have the opportunity to gain important practical experience during your studies. This not only pays off for your future career, but also makes it easier for you to enter professional life. The practical semester is the perfect complement to the numerous laboratory courses at the West Coast UAS.
