General information:
A Master’s degree offers the opportunity to specialize in a particular field. This increases your chances of standing out from the crowd of university graduates, pursuing a doctorate or working in an academic field. In addition, many employers attach great importance to comprehensive skills that you learn during your Bachelor’s degree and can expand and deepen through a Master’s degree.
The Master’s degree program in ITM builds on a previous Bachelor's or Diploma degree with a focus on management and tourism and is designed to be studied either after completing your Bachelor’s degree in ITM at the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences, a tourism degree at another university of applied science/university or after completing a related subject.
This means that you will sharpen your existing skills and deepen your key qualifications, particularly in the areas of tourism, management and methodological skills. Coupled with our application-oriented training, you will develop important skills for your future career. Our Master’s degree program prepares you for an exciting management position in a national or international company.

The Master’s course is taught in English and is characterized by a high degree of internationality. Students from different countries choose to complete their Master’s degree with us. This diversity offers you the opportunity to expand your intercultural skills as part of your studies.
Unlike the Bachelor’s degree course in ITM, a stay abroad is not mandatory for the Master’s degree. However, you can still spend a semester at a foreign (partner) university and study there. Our large network of partner universities is at your disposal.
Applying the knowledge you have acquired is also very important in the Master’s degree course. To this end, you can draw on a wide range of collaborations with external practice partners. The German Institute for Tourism Research (Deutsches Institut für Tourismusforschung), which is based at our university, will bring exciting research projects into the classroom for you to work on.

Why did I choose the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences?
I chose to apply at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences due to its program's focus on sustainable tourism, an area of significant demand in my home country. It's not just about learning, it's also about having new experiences!
This Master's program helps me to expand my horizons, acquire new information and consolidate the knowledge I gained during my Bachelor's degree. I have the opportunity to implement the knowledge I gained from theory to small-scale projects, e.g. in the development of advertising strategies and business plans for start-ups. I have direct contact with tourist organizations to carry out empirical research on their behalf. We students are welcome to participate in a variety of monthly activities organized by the student club and the International Office. Alongside receiving assistance with administrative procedures, I have made new friends and discovered a lot about German culture and life. I also went with my friends to nearby places in the region, for example to St. Peter-Ording, Sylt Island, and Lübeck. For me, learning at university is about more than just gaining knowledge; it’s also about experiencing life outside of the ordinary.
